Privacy & Cookies

Draft for review. TODO items must be completed before this page is published as a final policy.

Calculator inputs

The current RideCalc calculators run in your browser. The site code does not send calculator inputs to a server or save them in cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage. Reloading a calculator restores its example values in the selected unit system. There are no account or payment forms in the current site.

Cookies and tracking

The current site code does not set cookies or include analytics, advertising scripts or tracking pixels. The fuel cost and range calculator stores only your selected unit system and currency in localStorage under ridecalc:fuel-preferences, so these preferences can be restored after reloading. It does not store consumption, tank capacity, prices or trip distances. Preferences stay in your browser and are not sent to a server. You can clear them through your browser’s site-data settings. If browser storage is unavailable, the calculator still works but your selection may not persist. No optional-cookie consent popup is included. These statements describe the project code; hosting and delivery settings must also be verified before final publication.

External fonts

The site loads DM Sans, DM Mono and Space Grotesk through Google Fonts. Your browser requests a stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com and font files from fonts.gstatic.com. These requests expose your IP address and request information, such as browser headers, to Google; they may include referrer information depending on browser policy. Font loading is an external request even though the calculator itself runs locally.

Google states that its Fonts API does not set or log cookies or use the data it collects to build user profiles or target advertising. See Google’s explanation of Fonts privacy and Google’s Privacy Policy. The operator must confirm the appropriate basis and disclosures for this external service or self-host the fonts before final publication.

Site delivery and contact

Serving a web page requires the hosting or delivery provider to receive technical request information, including an IP address. The repository does not establish which provider is deployed or whether it retains access or security logs. If you contact the site by email, your email provider and the operator’s email provider process the message and associated contact details. Clicking an email link opens your email application; it does not send a message automatically.

Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority. The operator’s verified contact and authority details must be added below so requests can be directed appropriately.

TODO before final publication

  • Identify the operator/data controller and provide a verified privacy contact and any required address, representative or data protection officer details.
  • Confirm the hosting/CDN and email providers, actual logs and data categories, purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention periods and deletion practices.
  • Review Google Fonts use: confirm service/provider details, processing basis, retention and international transfer arrangements, or self-host the fonts and update this notice.
  • Verify the deployed site for any host-injected cookies, analytics or tracking. If optional tracking is introduced, block it until consent and offer equally prominent Accept all, Reject optional and Customize controls.
  • Supply the relevant supervisory authority and complaint details, any applicable transfer safeguards, and a final publication/review date.
